Best B2B Podcast Providers

If you’re new to the world of podcast and recording spoken voice, there are a few things you need to be aware of so that you are producing good quality content that will keep your audience coming back for more!

It goes without saying, but at the heart of a good audio production is a high-quality audio recording. To get a good audio source, make sure you have a quiet room to yourself, where you aren’t going to be interrupted. If there is background noise present (such as traffic), you may need to spend a bit extra to get a good quality microphone and accompanying accessories, that will reduce much of the background noise for you.

You can remove background noise in post-production using software, which can isolate and reduce many unwanted noises, but it's always best to start with the best quality audio you can to begin with as this will save time and you won’t need to degrade the audio quality afterwards by applying effects and filters.

Speaking of filters, after you’ve normalised the volume of your recording (this is often just a single mouse-click procedure using leading B2B Podcast Editing software), you should then use a ‘De-Essing’ sibilance filter which will soften harsh-sounded “s's" and “sh’s”. Reverb is another tool in the B2B Podcast Editors arsenal. Depending on your podcast's style and its specific content, adding a small amount of reverb can add a sense of gravitas to your voice.

It is common practice in B2B Podcast Editing to add compression to even out the dynamic range of voices. Compression also helps to control volume fluctuations, making softer parts more audible and preventing louder sections from peaking.

If you wish to go one step further with smoothness of voice you can use Equalization (or EQ). EQ can enhance the clarity and presence of a voice and can also be employed to reduce background noise, and therefore add clarity.

Mastering is the final process you can then subject your audio mix to. Mastering the final mix will ensure overall consistency and balance for a coherent sound.

If you have long-form content you may wish to trim some filler words, coughs and stutters, and / or you may need to edit out potential swear words or other content that isn’t suitable for broadcast. This process can take some time because, unlike many of the steps above, it can’t be solely left to the software to fix. You’ll need to listen to the audio in its entirety and then stop to cut and trim wherever you deem necessary.

If you wish to join edits together, you might need to use a crossfade tool to professionally transition between the two. This will be particularly relevant if you need to add adverts, for example.
